“Then. Now. Forever.” The WWE video leads us into the show.

A highlight package airs showcasing all the destruction caused by The Wyatt Family in the past two weeks, particularly when it comes to CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. The Devil made Bray Wyatt commit these vicious attacks. On this past Monday’s RAW, Daniel Bryan and CM Punk got a measure of revenge against the Wyatts with the help of a steel chair.

CM Punk’s music hits, and the crowd in Charlotte, North Carolina gets pumped up for the Best in the World. Michael Cole and JBL welcome us to the show. Punk grabs a microphone, and he says the title of Best in the World seems to mean a whole lot of things to a whole lot of different people. To the Wyatt Family, it means he’s the target of a three-on-one beat down. The Wyatts have a problem, and that problem is the Best in the World. Punk doesn’t know why they decided to attack him. Nobody does. No one is brave enough to get close and ask. Punk says he doesn’t care what the reason is because he’s here tonight to fight. He’s used to being outnumbered. Even when he’s outnumbered, he isn’t outgunned. He squashed the biggest rat the WWE has ever seen in Paul Heyman. If it’s a fight the Wyatts want, then why not right here, right now on Smackdown? Punk calls the Wyatts out because he’s here all night long. He’s not going anywhere until they show up, and he can kick them in their face.

Curtis Axel’s music hits, and the WWE Intercontinental Champion comes out to the stage. Axel says Punk needs to shut his mouth. He doesn’t care about the Wyatts. They can wait in line because he has some unfinished business with Punk. Because of Punk, Paul Heyman, his mentor and father figure, is laid up in a hospital in Europe. Axel says he’s going to make Heyman proud. He talked with Vickie Guerrero, and she booked him in a match against Punk. That match is right now.

CM Punk vs. Curtis Axel

Charles Robinson, my favorite referee of all time, will officiate this match in his hometown. Axel quickly kicks and punches him to the corner before stomping him down. Punk hits a snapmare and dropkicks him in the back of the head. Punk slaps him in the face and kicks him in the back of the knee a few times, each time turning him keister over teacup. Punk picks him up, but Axel pulls him face first into the turnbuckle. Axel throws him out of the ring. Axel goes to leave the ring, but Punk kicks him in the back of the knee. Punk gives him a front suplex on the barricade before alerting the crowd that it is indeed clobbering time.

We come back from the break to see Punk trapped in a modified abdominal stretch. Punk quickly fights up and gets him in position for a GTS, but Axel slides off and escapes the ring. Punk then takes him down with a baseball slide. Punk goes outside and puts him back in the ring, but Axel rolls out again. Axel then drives Punk into the barricade. Axel throws him back into the ring for a two count. Axel drops some elbows for another two count. Axel hits a backbreaker before going to the second rope for an elbow drop. Axel picks up another two count for that effort. Axel rubs Punk’s face into the mat before talking a little trash. Punk comes back with a kick to the knee and some chops. Axel reverses a whip to the corner, but he runs into Punk’s boot. Punk springboards off the second rope with a cross-body, but he catches nothing but air as Axel moved. Axel then floor Punk with a big clothesline for a near fall. Axel quickly follows up with a modified camel clutch, but Punk fights up and hits him with a back suplex.

After both men take some time to recover, they get to their feet. Punk ducks a clothesline from Axel before catching him with a jumping calf kick. Punk hits him with a clothesline before catching him with a swinging neckbreaker for a near fall. Axel picks himself up in the corner, so Punk catches him with a high running knee followed by a short-arm clothesline. Punk goes to the top rope for his trademark diving elbow, but the Wyatt Family’s video glitches appear on the screen. The lights go out in the arena, but when they come back on, the Wyatts are nowhere to be seen. Punk is looking for them when Axel attacks him from behind and hits him with the Perfect-Plex, but Punk kicks out. Axel cannot believe it. Axel punches away at him before going for a neckbreaker, but Punk counters into a backslide pin attempt. Axel fights it, so Punk turns it into a GTS for the win!

Winner by Pinfall: CM Punk

CM Punk quickly looks around for the Wyatts, but they still haven’t appeared. All of a sudden, the sound of Bray Wyatt’s laughter is heard. The lights go out, and Wyatt appears on the titantron laughing. Wyatt then blows the lantern out.

-Commercial Break-

Alberto Del Rio challenges John Cena to the rematch

Alberto Del Rio makes his way to the ring to jeers from the crowd. Del Rio waves the Mexican flag in the ring before grabbing a microphone. Del Rio says he’s more than just a world-class athlete – he’s a Mexican world-class athlete, and that makes him better than the rest of the world. It also makes him better than all the gringos in the arena. He should still be the World Heavyweight Champion, but John Cena stole the title from him. Del Rio says they cheer for him because they don’t know what’s good for them. They have no brains. If they were smart, they would see John Cena for what he really is – a thief. Cena is walking around with something he doesn’t deserve. The Americans don’t know this, but at Hell in a Cell, he was really sick. He had a fever, his knee and neck were hurt, but he begged the doctors to let him compete that night. Any of the lazy Americans would have called in sick that day, but not him. He is Mexican, and he has pride. After his rematch against John Cena, he is going to tell every gringo, “The Champ is here!”

John Cena’s music hits, and the WWE World Heavyweight Champion makes his way to the ring to a great reception. Cena says he’s normally all exited to get down here, but today is a little different because Alberto Del Rio is sick. This is important. He is sick, and they have done nothing for him. Cena suggests to Michael Cole that they send him an Edible Arrangement as well as one of those cards that make music. The letter should read that he hopes Del Rio feels better, and he’s sorry he whooped his butt at Hell in a Cell.

Del Rio says everything is a joke to Cena. Del Rio says he’s acting like a stupid little kid. Del Rio demands that Cena leave his show right now. Del Rio points towards the stage. Cena tells him to make him leave. The World Heavyweight Champion is two feet away from Del Rio. He’s not calling in sick or taking the night off. Del Rio has a rematch, so Cena suggests we make this episode of Smackdown a championship edition. Del Rio says that’s exactly why he’s here. Del Rio calls for a referee to come out as well as a doctor. Cena is going back to the hospital. He’s going to take back his title, and he’s going to break Cena’s arm, tonight.

EXCUSE ME! Vickie Guerrero makes her way to the stage. Vickie says that she is in charge, and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match will not take place. However, Alberto Del Rio will face John Cena for the World Heavyweight Championship in two weeks at Survivor Series. That is what’s best for business. Cena says Vickie is sick too – she’s got a chronic case of diarrhea of the mouth. Vickie has done two things that are best for business since she debuted: the day she got fired as a General Manager, and whenever she shuts the hell up. Del Rio says “Little Juanito” is right. Vickie excuses herself again before saying she’s already taken the initiative to pick their opponents for the evening. Later tonight, John Cena will be in action against Ryback. Since Del Rio is just as disrespectful as John Cena, he will be taking on this monster right now: The Great Khali.

-Commercial Break-

They lock up, and Khali pushes him into the ropes. Del Rio kicks and punches him, but Khali soon grabs him and pushes him into the ropes for a clothesline. Khali leaves the ring, and he head-butts Del Rio before sending him into the barricade. Khali throws him back into the ring, and Del Rio snaps his arm off the top rope as he tries to get back in. Del Rio kicks him in the leg to take him down, and he stomps away at Khali. Del Rio wraps Khali’s arm around the bottom rope before slamming it off the mat a few times. Del Rio applies a wristlock, but Khali knees out. Del Rio quickly kicks him before going to the second rope. Del Rio then jumps into Khali’s boot.

Khali gets in the ring, and he viciously chops him in the corner. Khali sets him up on the top rope, but Del Rio catches him with a Cross Arm Breaker while hanging over the ropes. Khali swats him off, but Del Rio soon gets back in and kicks him in the shoulder. Del Rio then applies the Cross Arm Breaker for the victory.
